The Town of Knox, a small rural community set among rolling hills and farmland, is named for General Henry Knox, the first United States Secretary of War. Situated on the northeastern corner of the Eastern Mid-Coast region the town is thirteen miles from Belfast, thirty-six miles from Bangor, forty miles from Rockland and thirty-eight miles from Augusta, which is the state capitol.

As of the 2010 census, there were eight hundred and six people, three hundred and sixty households and two hundred and eight families residing in the town.
